The King Alfred Window

The central figure is that of King Alfred. Just below him on pedestals are two Viking ships symbolising Alfred as the pioneer of the British navy. At the bottom of the centre light the figure of Raymond du Puy dressed in the black mantle of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, of which he was the first Grand Master.
In the side medallions are scenes of Moses viewing the promised land and the parable of the Good Samaritan. At the bottom of the left hand light is a picture of the Southend Mayors' Civic House and on the right, Prittlewell hill as it was in the nineteenth century.
