Millennium Floodlighting

Saint Mary's was fortunate in being selected to be one of only 400 churches in the UK to be awarded a grant towards a floodlighting scheme by the Millennium Commission.

The conditions for acceptance were intended to place emphasis on the church as a focal point in community life and to enhance and reveal church architecture.

The outstanding character of Saint Mary's with its fifteenth century tower has represented, over the centuries and to this day, a symbol of faith for us and future generations worthy of the Millennium celebrations.

We believe the floodlighting scheme which has been designed with great care is of the highest standard for this very significant landmark building.
