The King Alfred Window

One of several windows in the wall of the south aisle.

The central figure is that of King Alfred the Great.
At the bottom of the centre light, dressed in the Crusaders' black mantle, is the figure of Raymond du Puy, the first Grand Master of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem.

The medallions in the side panels depict Moses viewing the Promised Land and the parable of the Good Samaritan.

Of local interest, in the left hand light a picture of 'Porters', the Mayor's Civic House, and at the top of the panel the arms of Essex County.

In the right hand light is a view of Prittlewell hill as it was in the nineteenth century, at the top the arms of Southend-on-Sea.
